ASUU strike may end within days as Pres. Jonathan Intervenes

The Nigerian president GEJ is finally set to get involved personally, to ensure the end of the 4-month old strike...

Fresh report reaching us suggest that the Academic Staff Union of Universities, (ASUU) may call of the strike withing a couple of days.

The report suggests that representatives of the Academic body, ASUU are set to meet with the President of the Federal republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan later tomorrow in a last ditch effort to end the 4-months old strike once and for all.

The president is hoping that a personal intervention plea from him  will persuade  the striking lecturers to call of the strike and return to work. Meanwhile, the chairperson of the academic body - University of Agriculture, Abia State, Micheal Opara reveaed to the press that the body is not willing to compromise that the strike will only be called of if and only if their demands are met.

This comes shortly after reports revealed that the Federal government had put in place plans to forcefully re-open Nigerian  Public/Federal Universities with or without the Academic Staffs.

Upon further investigations we found out that the only legally appropriate option is for the case to be tken to court which is a situation both parties are trying to avoid as verdict could go in either direction.
